$20,000 grant from The Cynthia and George Mitchell

The Cynthia and George Mitchell Foundation awards $20,000 grant to Beyond Careers

November 8, 2011, Beyond Careers received a grant from The Cynthia and George Mitchell Foundation for $20,000.

Beyond Careers, established in 2003, is a community-based, 501(c) (3),non-profit organization with headquarters in Houston, Texas and received federal and state tax-exempt certifications on July 9, 2004.

Beyond Careers mission is to provide education for low-to-moderate income families and individuals (LMI), students, small businesses and the self-employed to build wealth and foster significant improvements in self-sufficiency.

The funds from The Cynthia and George Mitchell Foundation will go towards programs targeting high school students.

The program will provide guidance regarding financial aid and goal setting for clients who desire to pursue a program of postsecondary education; instruction in personal financial literacy, and information about a Matched-Savings, Individual Development Account (IDA) program for students pursuing post-secondary education to build and leverage their earned income for their college costs.

Beyond Careers clients will be encouraged to pursue a 2-year degree from a community college to make their next goal to complete a 4-year degree.
