2023 Tax Season
Beyond Careers has been a registered community partner with the Internal Revenue Service - Stakeholder Partnerships. Education & Communication (IRS-SPEC) and was established as a mobile Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) to provide free tax preparation for taxpayers in the low-to-moderate income bracket.
In addition to our partnership with the IRS-SPEC, Beyond Careers VITA will have virtual tax preparation and partner with GetYourRefund (GYR) for taxpayers to securely upload their tax documents. GYR is also another measure that helps avoid identity theft. This will be Year 3 of the partnership between GYR and Beyond Careers.
To have your tax return completed virtually, set up your account to upload your tax documents in the secure GetYourRefund (GYR) portal for the 2023 tax season beginning:
January 31, 2024
To set up your GYR account and upload tax documents, the taxpayers will need a computer with a camera and internet connectivity or a mobile device.

VITA is on the Texas Education Agency (TEA) approved curriculum List for Public School Accountability under the College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR) Rate for Schools and Industry-Based Certifications (IBC).
Some schools will have the Virtual VITA only program if CCMR and IBC are not applicable for them.
